 The Apalpador, also known as Apalpabarrigas or Pandigueiro, is a giant who spends the year preparing forests charcoal. According to the Galician Christmas tradition, He comes down from the mountains on Christmas Eve or December 31st to bring chestnuts and toys to Galician children.

 He wears the "coroza", the Galician traditional raincoat, a hooded coat made with rye straw or reeds. This was often used by those who work outdoors.
